About Me
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where I serve as Clinical Director of the Child, Adolescent and Family Services outpatient clinic and Director of the Early Childhood Program. I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology at Emory University, where I trained in psychotherapy and psychological assessment with both adults and children, with specialized clinical training in the diagnostic assessment of autism in young children at the Marcus Autism Center. My research on infant and early childhood development and autism has been published and presented nationally and internationally. I went on to complete my clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center, with a specialty in early childhood and parenting. At Mount Sinai, I teach and supervise psychiatry residents, fellows, medical students and psychology trainees.
How I work
At the center of my work is a curiosity about the past, about relationships, and about the patterns that quietly shape how we function now. I come to this work with particular expertise in the assessment and treatment of very young children, from infancy through the early school years, and their parents and families. I also work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the complex experience of becoming a parent. I work from a psychodynamic and relational orientation, integrating cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approaches as indicated.
Part of my work with young children is diagnostic. For families concerned about their child’s development, I offer specialized diagnostic evaluation, including assessment for autism and developmental delays in toddlers and young children. Early childhood is a period of remarkably dynamic developmental unfolding, and assessment in this period requires careful, nuanced evaluation and feedback that is warm, accessible, and genuinely useful to the parents and caregivers who know their child best.
